Countries that have banned internet are: Maldives, Tunisia, Belarus, Libya, Syria, Vietnam, Uzbekistan, Nepal, Saudi Arabia, Iran, China, Myanmar/Burma, Cuba, Turkmenistan and North Korea.

The image shows a flag of China, the Youtube logo, The Dhala Lama and ‘banned’ in big font. To me, I think it means that Youtube is banned in China because Youtube may have some content that may be offensice to religion or to the country’s authority.

Different countries ban the internet for different reasons and purposes. The common reason why countries have banned the internet is because there is material that is considered subversive and pornographic.

If the Australia government had banned the internet, learning, communicating, etc would be much harder. In today’s society and with new technology, people tend to rely on the internet for many reasons. Mainly because its cheap and its very convenient.

Learning would be harder, the only other resource that could be easily accessed is books, but even then, the book aren’t regulary updated and the information may be old. Communicating would be worse, calling people by phone is quite costly and inconvenient. Sometimes, you might have to end mail and packages which is very costly. Shopping would not be impacted too much, unless people are used to shopping over the internet.

Overall,  I think we should keep the internet as it is a great service and resources for millions of people.

So far, our research is going ok. We have done some research, but we still have a lot left to research. For research, I think the research would be very easy because the topics we need to research are easy to find and the research is easy to understand and are quite straightforward. The problem is, I’m not to sure about how much research is required and that whether it has to be printed and placed in our folders.

I do not know much about imovie because I don’t use the Macs that often and I’m not a big fan of them. I have use imovie once before and I do have some idea of how to use it. I think the movie is going be the hardest part of the project. I’m not sure how the project needs to be present but I’m assuming we have to make a movie.

We did a corrosion, precipitaion, combustion and decomposition experiment

The corrosion experiment would take a while because we will be observing how the iron will be corroded during a period of 3 weeks.

The precipitation was quite quick and easy. We had to mis 2 different, clear soloution together. The solutions reacted immediately. There was cloudiness and soon after, there were insoluble solids apprearin at the bottom of the test tube.

The combustion experiment was quite fun. The experiment required us to burn some magenisium ribbon in a flame. The magnesium quickly burned up. It produced a vey bright flame.

The decomposition experiment took some time. It required us to seperate a substance into 2 other substances. We heated up some nickle carbonate and a gas was transferring into the limewater. The limewater changed into a very faint purple colour.

Secular means that its an atheist society. Its non religious, there is no God and God is pushed to the outer limits of society. An example of this society is Russia and China. Because they are ran by a communist government, there is no freedom in religion.

Non secular means the opposite. The non secular society is religious and the do have a God. An example of this is Poland. They are a very religous soceity, this is evident because they celebrate many religous holidays compared to the other nations in the world.

“Six people hit by drunk driver: police” This report was about a drunk man in his mid 20’s running over 6 people (5 men and 1 women) in his car because he was angry about an argument he had before. The 6 people were taken to hospital and are fine.

Today in our lesson, we were filling out the peer evaluation form for the last project. So far, I think my group is behind because the group members seem to be mucking up and the secreatary has not printed anything out. I have read the entry document and it seems very easy.

For the multimedia sales pitch, I would advertise the movie by using things that would capture the attention of people, the information that is going to be presented should be intersting, easy to learn and understand and not boring. That way, more people would use it.

The way the entry document was presented was quite humourous but it was unclear. It was hard to understand what the question was asking. It would be more easier to understand if the people were being more straightforward. The entry document that was on the internet was much better because it was more straightforward and was much easier to understand.

So far in this new project, we have just begun. We have been placed into our new groups and we have completed our group contracts which I’m pleased about because my last group took far too long just completeing the group contracts. I have seen the rubric for this project and it seems much more easier than the last project. We basically have to conduct 10 practical experiments about chemical reactions and we have to write a scientific report on it. I think my group would function quite well, my group consists of people I have worked with and I know well. In todays lesson, we have conducted 2 experiments. One was about corrosion, we have to observe 4 iron nails that have been placed in a tube filled with air, oil, water and silica gel, and we will observe them once a week for 3 weeks. The other experiment was about precipitation, we had to mix a silver nitrate solution and a sodium chloride solution. After that, we have to write a report about the experiment.

How to improve the lives of Aborigines

March 13, 2008

I think the Aborigines should be given the same rights and opportunities as we do and that the government should repay the Aborigines for the damage that has been caused. The government should help the Aborigines more like helping the people who are having problems with drugs should be taken care of, not just igoring them. Aborigines should have the same opportunities as we do like access to health services, schooling and decent shelter. The government has done very little in the past few years and I think it time to change all this.

NetAlert is an Australian organisation that provides a safe enviroment for children and families from the internet.  They help by providing information, they have programmes and they have some software that can be downloaded.

The main reason why an organisation like this is set up is to help many Australians with the internet

‘Wired generation’ is a group of people (mainly teenagers) who often use the internet as a form of communication, usually to stay in touch with their friends.

Bebo: people use bebo as a tool for communication. They can ‘chat’ by posting comments or sending private mails. Bebo allows the user to share their photos and videos, publically or privately. Sometimes, people misues Bebo by posting abusive comments on their page, spamming, etc.
